Every Thanksgiving, I think about survival.
Not in a dramatic way— in a deeply quiet way.
I shouldn’t be here. Not after being hit by a car as a child. Not after the head injury. Not after the illness that nearly took my life and nearly stole my eyesight.
But here I am. At 76. Alive. Healthy. Clear in mind, body, and heart.
And deeply, profoundly grateful.
There were six of us in my family. Now there are two. My younger brother is ten years behind me. Every year feels like a gift I don’t take lightly.
I’m aware that I’ve lived more years than I have left. That truth doesn’t frighten me. It focuses me.
It reminds me to love harder. To give more generously. To stay awake to the moments most people rush past. To use my 30 years of coaching lawyers and my 76 years on this earth to help others create a life that feels whole, not hurried.
Thanksgiving, for me, isn’t a holiday. It’s a mirror.
A mirror that asks: “Are you living your life… or are you merely passing through it?”
I am grateful for every breath. Grateful for every client who trusts me. Grateful for every lawyer who chooses to live differently. Grateful that I still get to do this work— work that feels like purpose, not pressure.
May your Thanksgiving remind you that being alive is the greatest success of all.
P.S.
If reading this reminded you that your time is precious, imagine what you could create alongside others who live with that same awareness.
The Pinnacle Lawyer Mastermind is a rare gathering of lawyers who choose excellence, clarity, and meaning—one intentional step at a time.
Have you ever had life tap you on the shoulder and say, “Pay attention… this moment matters”?
This week, I’m sharing why gratitude isn’t just something I practice on Thanksgiving, it’s something that wakes me up, lifts me, and fills my days with meaning.
